"Necessity is the mother of invention" when the need for something becomes imperative, you find ways of achieving it.

"Music Mission”  is a nonprofit that supports communities throughout the Americas in creating and sharing their music. We believe in music’s ability to transcend division, foster innovation, and create joy for a world in need of empathy and constructive growth.

Music Mission began as a philanthropy initiative in Tlahuitoltepec, Oaxaca, México in 2015. There high in the Mexican Sierra, in the indigenous MIXE region of Mexico, Minnesota native Todd Clouser saw an opportunity to be of use to young musicians. Fast forward 5 years and Music Mission has donated 40 thousand dollars in instruments, instruction, performances and basic needs support to communities throughout the Americas. Back home in Minnesota, Molly Maher, artist, music advocate, and director of Lowertown Guitar Festival, was building one of the Twin Cities’ premier community music festivals.

Today we are thrilled to announce that Music Mission has incorporated and been granted 501c3 status, with Molly Maher and Todd Clouser as co-directors. Lowertown Guitar Festival will be Music Mission’s primary annual event, deepening our commitment to connect and support vibrant arts communities between Minnesota, Mexico, and beyond.

Molly : Music Mission feels like the next level of musical service. Providing a space for others to share their voices together for a supported experience. Pumped to be on this ride with TC.

Todd : This was always the dream, to create and support the creative arts, honoring their promise and possibility. I’m so grateful to get to work with Molly and in communities I love and that have supported me.

We thank supporters and the advisory board of LGF and patrons of Music Mission across the US and Mexico. With hope and open hearts we step forward with this new venture.
